We had a great time at The Art of Marketing Conference today here in Montreal at the Palais des Congres. Definitely some real inspiring and enlightening stuff being shared by the likes of Seth Godin, Avinash Kaushik, Max Lenderman and friends.

It’s amazing the things you take for granted before you actually see or meet a person live.

Seth was everything I’d built him up to be and more. It would seem as though he lives and breathes (and has done for quite some time) what he preaches and has quite the storied career that include stints at Yahoo!, the authoring of several books, speaking, inventing and failing.

GoDaddy.com blows my mind

Posted in General on August 11th, 2010 by webmaster – 3 Comments

The weirdest thing happened the other day as I was cruising around minding my own business. Patrick from godaddy.com rang me up. Like a lot of you I’m sure, we’re forever obsessed with trolling for the perfect domain name (for what business we’re not sure…). It was for two of these that we’d registered a year or so back (and never used!!) that Patrick was calling about. He wanted to know if I was interested in renewing them…I didn’t know they did this.

Book Review of Flip The Funnel by Joseph Jaffe

I got onto Jaffe after having come across and listened to a few episodes of the Podcast he and Mitch Joel took up as part of a now ongoing series of chats they have touching on all things social media. An earlier taste of a Jaffe video on YouTube while researching business card designs also likened me to his style of commentary and candidness, which I must say also helped lead me to pick up the book.

Shit Sandwich Be Gone!

Like many of you, I like giving praise where praise is due. In fact, I’m chock full of compliments and kind words for friends, family, colleagues and associates who do something right. I try not to live my life in fear of being judged by others, but at the same time a pat on the back never hurt anyone and being told you’ve done something well, or if someone tells you they are pleased with you for some good deed or another, it is often most welcome and yet another reason to keep doing those things you might not like so much, but that give you the opportunity to do the things you do like. Does that make sense? read more »

Trust Agents: Using the Web to Build Influence, Improve Reputation, and Earn Trust

I have been tearing through books lately. A lot of books. In fact, my wife is starting to wonder what exactly keeps me in the can for 10 minutes (ok, sometimes longer) that can be so interesting, ummm, errr..important. Truth be told I’ve never been an in-and-outer, but I digress….

My thought was, because I’m spending all this time reading these books, that I would review them. In no way am I really qualified, but my English teacher in college was my favorite before I decided to drop out. So, maybe I am qualified after all.

Trendspotting and Accusations Abound

A few months back, like many in the know, I picked up Gary Vaynerchuk’s book #crushit. As you’ll read further down, I just couldn’t put the thing down and made my way through it while sitting in my truck near a local WalMart – with 2 hours to spare before I was to meet a client at a restaurant around the corner. read more »

Why Real Estate Professionals need to be thinking about their Personal Brand

Posted in Branding, General on January 8th, 2010 by Moe – Be the first to comment

The Real Estate Professional has a tough job. She battles day in and day out to gain her clients’ trust. She books appointments, she shows houses – tons and tons of houses, she makes offers, counter-offers, ridiculously low why are you wasting my time you stupid *** offers – all with a smile on her face. Why? Because real estate professional’s are one of the only remaining true commissioned-based sales force. You don’t sell – You don’t earn. Yikes!! Unless she is an established pro with hundreds of repeat clients and tons of referrals, she cannot afford to turn a client away – and so you take the good with the bad.
